Over the last few years, people have been turning from the babble of the television and have instead been giving their attention back to an old time family favorite: game night. It harkens back to a time when families did something truly wondrous...they played games and talked to one another. This is a trend that is growing in households across the country, where they are blowing the dust off of old games or heading down to places like The Wizard’s Chest and picking up the newest games.

Obviously, this is something of which we are very supportive. Not only because we’re selling games, but because it is very much in the spirit of our store. For over two decades, we’ve brought games to people because that’s what we do. It’s not about the money, but about sharing our love of games with anyone that is willing to indulge.

We can aid you with two of the key ingredients to a great night – helping you select a game and making sure you know the rules. The Wizard will be featuring certain games on this page to get you started down the right path – please check back regularly for different games to make the focus of your family bonding activity. Or, just come on down to the Castle. Play a game or two with us, and then head home and start a tradition with your kids. Give the television a rest, and get to know one another again.

On the 28th anniversary of the beginning of the amazing 80 day journey around the world performed by Phileas Fogg, a group of fellow eccentrics come up with a bet of their own: $1 million dollars to the first of them to see the most cities in America, by train, in just 7 days. Taking the roles of these bored dilettantes, you and your fellow players race across America, using cards to gain control of key railroad routes. The long the route, the more points it's worth. Players can gain points through various victory conditions, with whoever has the most points becoming a brand new Millionaire! Ticket to Ride is an amazing family game, combining easy to learn game play with a subtle and fun sense of strategy.
